Using cutting edge AI techniques to create deepfaked videos, Juliane Kühn and Tobias Wolbring explore how physical attractiveness affects labor market success. They find that beauty pays but not under all circumstances. Only men consistently profit from their looks, while women benefit from a beauty premium in female-typed, but not in male-typed jobs.
