Degree Programmes
Bachelor Socioeconomics
The Bachelor Socioeconomics is coordinated by the chair of Prof. Martin Abraham.
The Bachelor’s program in Socioeconomics is aimed at all those who are interested in both economic and social issues and who wish to flexibly combine economic and social science subjects. Survey techniques and other forms of data collection as well as their statistical analysis are also taught – the empirical orientation proves to be a special characteristic of the program. After a general introductory phase, students choose between two majors: Behavioral Sciences and International. The latter specifically prepares students for activities with a strong international focus, whereas students of Behavioral Sciences further enhance their knowledge of empirical social research. Students thus not only sharpen their economic thinking, but also acquire skills in social science analysis as well as methodological knowledge. Graduates of the bachelor’s program in social economics are most often found in the fields of human resources, social and market research, adult education, and public relations.
Master Socioeconomics
The Master Social Economics is coordinated by the Chair of Prof. Tobias Wolbring.
Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg is one of only two universities in Germany to offer the Master’s program in Socioeconomics. The program is aimed at bachelor’s graduates with an interest in social and economic sciences and prepares students for management activities in business and society through interdisciplinary and well-founded methodological training. The Master of Science degree qualifies students for a PhD and opens the way for an academic career. The foundation of socioeconomics is empirical research methods, which are used in the Master’s program in the fields of sociology, psychology, business administration, economics and communication sciences. The program is characterized by interdisciplinarity, individuality and flexibility.
